President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that the US Embassy in BiH rejected his request for a diplomatic visa, which is why he will not be able to attend the inauguration of the new US President Donald Trump.

According to him, the US embassy explained that he is not going as a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dodik claims that he was invited to the Trump’s inauguration, but many believe he was actually invited to the one of the side events which will take place on January 20 in Washington.

RS President said he got invitation “from the people who were in the Trump’s election staff, and who are part of the team dealing with the transition from the former administration to the new one.”

Dodik is well known as pro-Russian politician, although he was American ally at the beginning of his political career. American embassy in Sarajevo severed all contacts with him several years ago due to his policy and harsh rhetoric.

Republika Srpska is one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
