Decision on a coordination mechanism adopted

The BiH Council of Ministers adopted today a decision on a coordination mechanism in the BiH’s European integration process.

The decision defines an institutional and operative system and a way of coordination between BiH institutions in implementing activities in connection with the BiH’s accession to the EU, and joint bodies within the coordination system, their composition, jurisdictions and mutual relations, says a press release from the BiH Council of Ministers.

The coordination of the European integration process means activities that are implemented with the aim of securing as greater a harmonisation and coherence as possible in the work of institutions at all government levels in BiH in connection with the meeting of obligations from the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the European Communities and their member states and BiH, and other obligations from the European integration process.

The coordination system regulates a way of communication between institutions in BiH, with the aim of presenting to the EU institutions harmonised positions on behalf of BiH.

The decision establishes a system of vertical coordination, that is, a coordination between various government levels in BiH, for which purpose joint implementation bodies will be established that would include all government levels in BiH.
